Annie Mae Brown Teacher's aide in Newark and loyal member of Abyssinian Baptist Church, 81 Annie Mae Brown, 81, of Newark, N.J., passed away at her residence on Aug. 1, 2018, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Nelson Brown, Sr. and mother of Nelson, Jr. (Mary), Gary, Lyndon, Brenda, Alvin and the late Reginald Brown. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Cornelius Herbert (Polly); two sisters: Ella Webb (Moses) and Shirley Sessoms (Matthew); a brother-in-law, George Dixon; an aunt, Annie Stewart, and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends She was employed by the Newark Board of Education as a teacher's assistant at 13th Avenue Elementary School and retired in 2006 after 35 years of service. She was also a faithful member of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark for 58 years. Viewing will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, 224 West Kinney St., Newark. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 at 12 noon following a viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Rev. Rahmin Wynn, Officiating Homegoing Services at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, N.C., will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 12 noon following a viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Dr. Charles E. McCullum, Pastor, Officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Services are entrusted to the Plinton-Curry Funeral Home in Westfield, N.J.
