GODRIDGE Dame Barbara Krauss Godridge "Bobbie" Beloved wife of the late Joseph Edward Godridge Jr., Bobbie passed away on July 29, 2018, at the age of 93. Originally from Long Island, NY, she had lived in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area since 1955. She was previously an active member of many nonprofit organizations including National Society of Arts & Letters (NSAL-DC and South Florida chapters), Welcome to Washington International, CARE, Hamlet Citizens Assn, Hamlet Garden Club, Women's Club of Chevy Chase, Montgomery County Federation of Women's Clubs, National Capital Area Federation of Garden Clubs, and Republican Women's Club, where she served frequently on the Boards or as President. Formerly a free-lance public relations consultant and photojournalist, her career began at 20th Century Fox Film Corporation in New York City. She traveled with her husband all over the world, including climbing the Great Wall of China in the 1980's with the People to People International Financial Management Delegation. She was knighted a Dame in the Order of St. Stanislas in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her husband and son were predeceased. Her celebration of life will take place Wednesday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Washington, DC, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear something turquoise in her honor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3513 N St. NW, Washington, DC 20007 or the National Society of Arts and Letters /NSAL-DC, c/o Mr. William Young, 100 Ladyshire Lane, #A-301, Rockville, MD 20850.
