Dr. Virgilio I. Beato

Dr. Virgilio I. Beato passed away on July 28, 2018 in Miami, Florida, at the age of 101. Dr. Beato was born in Matanzas, Cuba on December 20, 1916. He had a distinguished and lengthy career as a physician practicing for almost 70 years. He retired in 2011 at the age of 95. His career included a professorships in medicine at the University of Havana Medical School, Robert B. Green Hospital and Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, as well as Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, Texas. He resided in San Antonio from January 1963 until November of 1976 when he moved to Miami, Florida. He was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital until 1982. He is survived by his third wife, Esther; his children Dr. Jorge R. Beato, Marianela Beato Breslof, Maria Cristina Beato Lanz; his grandchildren Virgilio R. Beato, Rachel Breslof Forte, Danielle Bronson, Dorian Peters, Donovan Peters, Darcy Peters, and Ayasha Peters; and his eight great grandchildren.
