BARBARA ANN DeWITT (Age 89)
Died peacefully on July 25, 2018. She worked as an art teacher for 25 years at Montgomery County Maryland schools, including Stedwick, Southlawn and Maryvale. She enjoyed sharing her love of art with students and her experiences of traveling around the world - often using travel journals she had created on her journeys and showing slides she had taken. She wanted to help young people to be kind, helpful, and caring. She felt the highlight of her career was an ALL SCHOOL, ALL DAY, ALL ART program at Stedwick - where with help from students, teachers and friends, she scheduled all students and teachers for the day, planned the projects, brought in special artists and provided food for all the helpers. She had a passion for drawing and water color, creating prize winning and published pictures. She was awarded the MD Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Award of Distinction, was included in the Who's Who in the East 1991-92, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG). She served as DKG chapter president, chaired committees, and was State Newsletter editor. She was a Red Hat member. Her love of travel and learning continued throughout her life as she actively participated in various seminars, workshops and societies. She was blessed with two great children, Don (Zona) DeWitt of Ijamsville, MD and Carol DeWitt of Rockville, MD; five brothers and sisters; many nieces; nephews; grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had many good friends, had an active life, and liked to help others.Memorials may be made in Barbara's memory to the Malta United Methodist Church, PO Box 158, Malta, IL 60150.
