Anthony 'Tony' Clarke Built, repaired and improved countless homes in a career spanning 50 years; devoted family man Anthony "Tony" Clarke, 83, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2018, surrounded by his family. His wife, Nora, passed away less than one week later. Relatives and friends are invited to attend their visitation on Tuesday, July 31, at Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J., from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, N.J., at 10 a.m., with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Memories and condolences may be shared at farmerfuneralhome.com. Tony was born and raised in Tipperary, Ireland. He immigrated to America with his family at the age of 14 and would eventually settle in North Caldwell with his wife, Nora, and their children. Over the course of his lifetime, Tony built, repaired and improved countless number of homes, and donated his time and considerable talents to anyone in need. He would also do far more than what was asked of him, and became famous for his trademark line, "It will be a better job." You might only need help fixing a sink, but later discover him renovating your entire kitchen. He never missed a day in a career that spanned over 50 years. Prior to his retirement, he was the Chief Operating Engineer for Local 68 at Bloomingdales in Hackensack, N.J. He was a member of the Giblin Association and the Hurling Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed salt water fishing and watching sports. He was predeceased by his siblings, Vincent Clarke, David Clarke and Mary Warren. Surviving are his devoted children, Marion O'Neill, Brian Clarke, and Debbie Hanrahan and her husband, John; cherished grandchildren, Michael O'Neill, John Hanrahan, Elizabeth Hanrahan, Briana Garrett, and her husband, Gatlin, Stephen Hanrahan, Jacqueline Clarke, and Ellen O'Neill.
