November 8, 1931 - July 24, 2018 Barbara Knoll Wenzel passed away peacefully in her Northridge, CA. home surrounded by her 8 surviving children. Barbara was married to prominent Los Angeles attorney, Lee B Wenzel from April 18, 1953 until Lee's death in 1990. She is survived by 8 of her 9 children - Teri, Mark, Christy, Dean, Julie, Lisa, Kent & Todd; 37 of 38 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Son Neil & grandson Luke predeceased Barbara in 2012. Barbara met Lee Wenzel while both were students at UCLA, and was a life long fan of Bruin sports, especially Football and Basketball . A civic minded leader with a servant's heart, Barbara worked tirelessly for San Fernando Valley's Chapter of National Charity League. Joining in 1966 to teach her 4 daughters the importance of service. She worked at NCL's Thrift Store; spearheaded fundraising for Rancho Del Valley's Crippled Children's Home, was President of SFV NCL,1973-1974; Debutante Ball Chairwoman; Advisory Council member and awarded an Honorary Life membership. A member of the Women's Council at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, she served as its president as well, Barbara belonged to the Golden Hour Guild pf Northridge Hospital and Gold Shield of UCLA. In 1990 she co-founded the Lee B. Wenzel Memorial Scholarship at UCLA Law School. This legacy continues to award scholarships for law students dedicated to serving their communities. Services for Barbara will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, Catholic Church, on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. reception immediately following in the Church Hall.
