Alfred S. Perry, III
On July 19, 2018, Alfred S. Perry, III passed away after a brief but hardfought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 8, 1945 to Alfred S. Perry, Jr. and Laura Lash Perry in Cortland, NY. He was a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and received his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland. He served the government for 36 years, first at the National Security Agency and then at the Defense Intelligence Agency. After retiring from the government, he continued to serve for another 10 years, primarily at the National Geospatial- Intelligence Agency through ASE/Booz Allen, retiring from there in 2012. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, M. Faith Burton, their son, David BurtonPerry (Jenny Guest), and daughter, Laura Fager (Brad), as well as two daughters, from his previous marriage, Jill McCarthney (Rick), and Lisa Taylor, plus two grandsons, Wesley and Forrest, his sister, Barbara McConnell (Karl), and other family members.He was devoted to his family and to his country, committed to the values on which it was founded. He loved dancing, soccer and other sports, walking with the family's 90-pound German Shepherd, Maya (aka Baby Girl), and exploring Europe, South America, Alaska and other far away destinations with Faith, and their family and friends.There will be a memorial service and celebration of his life on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to So Others Might Eat (SOME), or Friendship Place, both in Washington, DC.
