Bertha Nilsson
1933-2018
Bertha Farley Nilsson set sail from Houston, TX for her new home on heaven's celestial shore on Sunday July 22nd, 2018 at the age of 85. Her family was there at the dock to wish her bon voyage.
Bertha was born April 22, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to Bertha Farley Gratia and Richard William Farley Sr. Bertha spent fifty years working in the oil and gas industry; she loved to work, and treasured the many friendships she made over the years, especially her 'lunch bunch' friends.
Throughout her life, she found the greatest joy in her family and extended family. She showed her love through cooking and everyone was always welcome to Sunday dinners. Her greatest gift to her children was her time – especially the trip to the Florida panhandle every summer for nearly 45 years. These were the best times, with her family by her side, hunting crabs by flashlight at night, making drip sandcastles, and 'catching the breeze.' She loved the open water, music and especially loved to dance.

Her survivors include her husband of 37 years, Kenneth Oakie Nilsson; sister Joyce Farley Newburn, brother Richard Farley; six children Renee Perrin, Don Perrin, Fran Perrin, Denise Perrin Salvato, Penny Perrin Kosut, and Virginia Perrin Lapeyrouse; her 9 grandchildren Max Rowdon, Isabelle Rowdon Nassif, Camille Rowdon, Jordan Fitzpatrick, Nicolas Salvato, Julia Salvato, Zachary Kosut, Chase Lapeyrouse, Lucas Lapeyrouse; one great-granddaughter, Luna, and another great-granddaughter on the way.
Bertha had a generous heart, boundless energy and always wore a smile. She lifted everyone's spirits with her eternal optimism. We all miss her very, very much.
Services will be held at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 10am Saturday July 28, 2018.
