Anthony Ghana WesleyJanuary 31, 1959 - June 28, 2018Anthony Ghana Wesley, our beloved father, brother, uncle, friend, gentleman and warrior for love, peace, and justice, transitioned unexpectedly. He was born at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco to James and Lucinda Wesley. He first attended Serramonte High School in Daly City and then graduated in 1977 from J. Eugene McAteer High School in San Francisco, where he excelled in academics and at football playing halfback and linebacker. He continued his education at CCSF where he received an AA degree in Computer Science. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree from USF. For over 30 years, Anthony made a career in Silicon Valley, first at Sun MicroSystems and then at Oracle, where he became a lead hardware design verification engineer, founded their Black History Month events and established a scholarship fund and mentoring program for students. Guided by his mantra to "Celebrate Life and Be the Change", Anthony consistently helped others in need and coordinated social events to encourage a strong sense of community. He arranged annual summer camping trips for family and friends that created happy reunions and sweet memories. Anthony was generous and supportive to friends and strangers alike. Whether it was generously purchasing his friends' art, giving relatives a place to spend the night, offering homeless persons food and bus fare, or giving his time and financial support; he never turned anyone away. Anthony was a forceful, strategic and focused individual. He sought the finer things in life and worked hard to acquire them and found time to enjoy them. Anthony appreciated all types of music and his electric bass was his favorite instrument. He was most proud of his wonderful children. Anthony's union with Juanita Reed blessed them with a son, Armand, and Anthony cared for Juanita's son, Brent, as his own. He later married Kimberly Parker and they were blessed first with Kyla and then with Amir. Anthony was a sincere, loving, family man devoted to his four children who survive him: Brent, Armand, Kyla, and Amir. He is also survived by his four siblings: Haruwn (Margaret), Uganda (Everett), Luanda, and Melinda (Chris) as well as many nieces and nephews: Ayanda, Yemaya (Yamvo), Auset, Justin, Ayana, Eyonte, Tuvon, Cosmo, Simone, Ja'far Jr., Athanasia, Morgan, Daijha, Masai, and Lyndon; and by Leslie and the Alexander Family who lovingly "adopted" him. He is also survived by his former wife, Boonchalong Mulakul, and her daughter, Narumon Taesupapat. Many, many lifelong friends hold him dear. Anthony is forever loved and profoundly missed. We honor him by celebrating our lives at every opportunity and striving to be the change we want to see in the world.
