SOFIA Ernest Jr., "Ernie," of Merrimac and formerly of Chelsea and Medford passed away on July 18, 2018 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 56 years to Charlotte (Barton). Devoted father of Lisa Pelonzi and husband Michael of Danvers, Susan Sofia-McIntire and husband Michael of Newburyport, and Dr. Mark Sofia and wife Dr. Diane of Merrimac. Cherished Grandfather of Jonathan, Benjamin, Erica, Reid, Anthony, and Sorell. Dear brother of Robert John Sofia Sr. of Winthrop and the late Linda Sica. Adoring godfather of Robert John Sofia Jr. and the late Melissa Sica. Also survived by his best friend Robert "Rocky" Quinn, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
