SIRKIN, DORIS EVELYN WEINSTEIN, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 20, 1924 in Old Orchard Beach Maine, the youngest of 8 children born to Abraham and Annie Mollie Weinstein. She was predeceased by her parents and all seven of her siblings. They were Natalie Berger, Julian Weinstein, Nathan "Sonny" Weinstein, Ida Eisenman, Henry Weinstein, Dr. David Weinstein, and Leonard Weinstein. Doris graduated from Ketterlinus High School in St. Augustine Florida in 1942, Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans Louisiana in 1946, and the University of Miami Law School in 1949. She practiced law in Miami Beach, and served on the Board of the Miami Beach Bar Association from 1951 to 1961. Doris married Leon Sirkin in September of 1960 and had two children, Shayna and David. Doris and Leon resided in Florida and Maine and supported many charities in both communities. They were Founders of the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged (Douglas Gardens), and were Members of Temple Emanu-El on Miami Beach, the First Congregation Sons of Israel in St. Augustine, Congregation Beth Israel in Old Orchard Beach, and Congregation Etz Chaim in Biddeford Maine. Aunt Dodo was the tie between generations of her family. They and her large group of friends will remember her calming presence, supportive words, home-cooked meals, and lobster rolls by the beach. Doris' Memorial Service will be at Temple Emanu-El, 1701 Washington Av., Miami Beach FL 33139 on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10 am. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, 5505 NW 3rd St., Miami FL 33126. Wednesday evening Shiva will be at Temple Emanu-El from 58pm. Arrangements by Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert (305) 865-2353
