Anne Bookless Madden Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Anne Bookless Madden, 93, of Brick, N.J., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018, at The Chelsea in Brick. Mrs. Madden was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Visiting will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Epiphany R.C. Church, Brick. Final interment will take place privately at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rahway, N.J., at a later date. Anne was born in Bayonne, N.J., in 1925, and lived in Clark, N.J., for 50 years, and was an active member of St. John the Apostle Church. For many years, she and her husband, Dan, volunteered to serve the homeless and underprivileged at St. Joseph's Social Service Center. Anne moved to Brick 14 years ago, where she was a communicant at the Church of Epiphany. She was an active member of the Greenbrier II community, especially by sharing her talents with the Greenbrier quilting group. Anne was proud to be the child of immigrants from Scotland, and she was happy to have had a few chances to visit the country of her ancestors. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel James Madden, in 1999; parents, Alexander and Annie Bookless; brother, William Bookless, and by her niece, Patricia Bookless. Surviving are her sons, William Madden and his wife, Trudy of Hillsborough, N.J., and Daniel Madden of White House Station, N.J.; daughters, Maureen Flynn of Bernardsville, N.J.; Diane Guididas and her husband, James of Leland, N.C.; Mary Lou McGuinness and her husband, Dennis of Brick, and Nancy Sosky and her husband, Steven of Langhorne, Pa. She is also survived by a niece, Barbara Covino and her husband, Roy of Manchester, N.J.; sisters-in-law, Frances Madden of Linden, N.J., and Louise Hoffman of Clark; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
