Carol Louise Johnson passed away on June 23, 2018. Carol was born in Duluth MN in 1939 and grew up in the Los Angeles area. Following her graduation from Venice High School in 1957, she entered the religious congregation of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph. After completing her degree at Immaculate Heart College, she taught mathematics at St. Bernard's High School. When she left the congregation in 1971, she completed her Master's degree in mathematics with a grant from the National Science Foundation and continued her teaching career at Bishop Alemany High School, Canyon High School and Los Angeles City College, where she worked until her retirement. Carol was an inspired and treasured teacher who instilled in her students a love for learning. Carol was a world traveler, hiker, avid birder and talented weaver. She had a gift for friendship and everyone who knew her was touched by her grace. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David M. Chalberg, her sister Doreen Johnson, her stepchildren Chris Morley, Claudia Chalberg, Danny Chalberg, Rodger Bergue, and her many friends.
