Benny Perez Newark police detective Benny Perez, 61, of Newark, N.J., entered into eternal life on July 3, 2018, at St. Michael's Medical Center, Newark. Born March 22, 1957, in Newark, to the late Benito and Maria (nee: Rodriguez), he was a lifelong resident. Benny recently retired as a detective with the Newark Police Department. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
