Arthur T. Klose Retired Exxon chemical engineer, recognized as volunteer and humanitarian, 101 Arthur T. Klose, 101, of Linden, N.J., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Burial Office with Holy Eucharist at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, 2018 DeWitt Terr., Linden, N.J. 07036, on Saturday, July 7, at 1 p.m. The memorial gathering will begin at church at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements were held under the direction of the Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Ave., Linden. Arthur was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and lived in Linden for the past 69 years. He was employed by Exxon in Linden as a chemical engineer for 46 years, retiring in 1981. Arthur was a member of the Masons Lafayette Lodge 27, Rahway, N.J., for 64 years, Elks Lodge 1075, Rahway, Union, and Rahway Hospital Volunteer Service, and was a warden at the former Grace Episcopal Church, Linden. He was very active for 52 years with the Hilda Gould Chapter of Deborah in Linden. He won many awards including the B'nai B'rith Citizenship Award, Rahway Hospital Humanitarian Award, and the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year award. Arthur proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard on the U.S.S. Greensboro PF 101, during World War II. He was an avid gardener and volunteer. Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Klose, on Jan. 19, 1997; son, Kenneth A. Klose, in 1970; sister, Marion Davenport, and two brothers, Walter and Robert Klose. Surviving are his two loving daughters, Katherine A. DeMey and her husband, Charles, and Linda M. Schaefer and her husband, Frederick; three grandchildren, Charles DeMey III, Karen Schaefer, and Brian Schaefer; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
