BONNIE PHELPS PLIMPTON, March 18 1928 - June 18, 2018 Bonnie Plimpton of Glenview, Illinois passed away on June 18, 2018 at the age of 90. Bonnie was born in Chicago to Edna (Andersen) and John Ferre. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Charles Lloyd Plimpton. As a child, Bonnie attended Pilgrim Lutheran School in Chicago then went on to graduate from Amundsen High School. A love of dance was instilled in her at an early age, studying ballet in her youth, dancing ballroom in her 50's and country line dancing all the way into her 80's. Bonnie's love of fashion led her to work in retail while modeling for a boutique initially modeling dresses for the clients. However, her favorite place to be was Lake Michigan, sailing with her husband. They raced sailboard with the Chicago Yacht Club and came home with a trophy twice. She had a life long love of sailing and being near the water. Bonnie was also an artist who enjoyed painting in oil. For many years before the advent of color photography, she had a free-lance business doing hand coloring in oil black and white portraits taken at professional photography studios. As a diverse artist she also painted still lifes, landscapes and abstract paintings. After losing her husband, Charles, to colon cancer in 1978, she became passionate about studying health and nutrition, joining the Nutrition For Optimal Health Association, a non-profit whose mission is to promote optimal health through science-based wellness education. She served on their Board, helping them with their lecture series and meetings. Bonnie was also a huge animal lover, taking in rescued cats throughout her long life. Bonnie is survived by her son, Jeffrey Phelps Plimpton, daughter Leslie Ann Plimpton (Sohm), son Christopher Scott Plimpton and granddaughter, Sara Plimpton. Services for Bonnie were held privately.
