A longtime Glen Echo, Maryland resident, passed away peacefully in her home on June 28, 2018. She was 89. Born in Woodside, New York on August 20, 1928, to Lawrence and Blanch (Sutton) King, she attended St. Agnes High School and Hunter College in New York City. While working in Human Resources for Lord and Taylor in Manhattan, she married William James Potts, Jr. (Bill), the two were happily married for over 65 years. She was a world traveler, passionate cook, artist and lover of mystery novels who enjoyed spending time at her summer homes in Southold, New York and Leonardtown, Maryland. Her husband, Bill predeceased her in 2017. Mrs. Potts is survived by her daughter, Louise Anne Potts of Washington, DC; three grandchildren, Sarah, Meredith and Beau, and three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Susannah and George; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her son, William predeceased her in 1987.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Little Flower, 5608 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland 20816. Interment will follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20906. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made be made to St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth and Families, 4901 Eastern Avenue, NE., Hyattsville, Maryland 20782.
