On Wednesday, June 27, 2018 passed at his home in Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of 66 years to Arcadia "Kay" Maria (Ramos) Anderson. Dear father to Wally (wife, Susan Jean) of Malvern, OH, and daughters, Susan Hazlett (husband, Ed) of Bluffton, SC, Martha Anderson of Clarksburg, MD, and Mary Trvalik (husband, Bruce) of Arlington, MA. Loving grandfather to Andrew, Sarah, Cady, Steven, Sammie, Ruby, Andrew and Brian. Devoted brother to Helen Knievel (deceased), Rodney, and Barbara Gillespie.Born October 22, 1924, Paullina Iowa. Father Adam W. Anderson, Mother, Lillian C. (Tollefson) Anderson. Grew up on family farm in Paullina. Graduated Iowa State University, Naval ROTC, Aeronautical Engineering. Later continued PhD studies at Catholic University. Enjoyed 44-year career, David Taylor Model Basin, Carderock, MD. Called briefly to Iowa State as Professor of Engineering. Married Kay, May 1952. Duke and Kay were early members of Crusader Lutheran Church (Living Faith), Duke a longtime singer in the Choir. After retirement, started a landscaping business with daughter Susan, working until age 88.The family will receive friends at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave, Rockville, MD on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Living Faith Lutheran, 1605 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20851 on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park.
