December 21, 1927 - June 21, 2018 Barbara Elaine Dorf, age 90, of Los Angeles, California, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Los Angeles, CA, surrounded by family on June 21, 2018 on the Summer Solstice. Bobbe, as friends and family knew her, was born on December 21, 1927 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was the devoted daughter of Phil and Anne Levine. She attended the University of Wisconsin and Temple University. She majored in journalism and retail business which she learned from the ground up. She married Milton Dorf on October 19, 1949 at her uncle's home who was the mayor of Atlantic City at the time and for 25 years. Barbara and Milton had two children, Lauren and Steven. She was preceded too soon in death by her loving husband, Milton, and most recently by her son, Steven Dorf, who passed away December 1, 2016. She was a fabulous woman who was a foodie and lover of all things aesthetic. She was kind, curious, principled, extremely caring and humane. Next to her family, she loved reading, bridge and crossword puzzles. She loved anything connected with design and was well-known for her fabulous style. She was always dressed to the nines. She had a great sense of humor and always had a good joke. Her life's motto was "a little love goes a long way." She always had time, she always asked everyone how they were, had time to listen to what they said and offered great advice. In her high school yearbook she wrote "she wanted her share of health and to keep her share of pennies by writing another Gone With the Wind." Although she never did that, she tried to make people laugh and touch as many people as she could to make their lives better. Every day of her life she tried to tell others something nice about themselves. She is survived by her daughter Lauren King, son-in-law Richard King, beloved grandson Bobby King as well step-grandchildren Michael and Laura King, Charlie and Maggie King, Richard Jr. and Janae King and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Beau, Charlie and James King. There will be a memorial service at Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Village in Los Angeles on July 8th at 11:00am.
