1924 ~ 2018
Our sweet mother, Addie Moulton Murdock Hunter, passed away on June 24, 2018 at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family.
Addie was born on April 30, 1924 in Heber City, UT to Addison Charles and Catherine Hegyssey Moulton, the youngest of their five children. Born on her father's birthday, they gave her his nickname, Addie. Addie married Niff Murdock in the Salt Lake temple on October 27, 1943. In 1951, they moved to Schenectady, NY with their young family of three. Not long after, another child was born. There, Niff worked as an electrical engineer at GE, and Addie worked at being a mother who taught her children to love music, reading, learning and the Lord. She had a strong faith in the Savior and an unwavering testimony of His church. Throughout her life, Addie served in many positions of leadership in the LDS church. She was the gospel in action. In 1961, Addie & Niff moved their family back to Salt Lake, where they welcomed their fifth child. In 1975 Niff passed away leaving Addie to raise their 10-year-old daughter by herself. During that time, she enjoyed working as a secretary at Evergreen Junior High School. Addie married Bill Hunter in 1985. Over their 25 years together, they enjoyed many travel adventures with family and friends, and served an LDS mission in Tallahassee, FL. Bill died in 2010. For the last three years of her life, Summerfield Manor in Orem has been Addie's home. The family is grateful for the loving care she received by so many there who became like family. She made friends quickly because of her warm and outgoing nature. Addie was loved by many and she loved them back. Her motto was "blessed are the peacemakers", and she exemplified that phrase.
Addie is survived by her children: Trudy (Jay) Whitehead; Pat (Howard) Gerstner; Dean (Kris) Murdock; Diane (Jeff) Evershed; Cathy (Bob) Cushman and her 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren and by her seven stepchildren and their families.
