DIANNE SHEWBART BARBOUR
It is with great sadness that the family of Dianne Shewbart Barbour announces her sudden passing after a brief illness, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the age of 71 years. Dianne will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sara (John) Whaley, and Lisa (Ted) Kreh; her grandchildren, McKenna Whaley, John and Jennifer Whaley III, and Theodore C. Kreh XII; and her two great-grandchildren. Dianne was raised in LaPlata, MD and attended Peabody Conservatory. After her daughters were born she moved her family to Fairfax, VA, where she became an expert floral designer. Her adventurous spirit led her to open Village Flowers in Warrenton with her best friend of over 40 years, Dawn Borusky. Dianne was ultimately invited to be part of the resident staff in the White House flower shop throughout the Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush administrations. After moving to Ashburn, VA in 2002, Dianne continued work as a floral manager for Harris Teeter until she retired in 2015. She was then able to nurture her passions for gardening and baking. Her Hummingbird Cake and Blueberry Hand Pies will be sadly missed! A celebration of Dianne's life will be held on June 30, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. Please contact Sara at 571-437-2125 for details. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dianne's name to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. This cause was very important to her. Please visit www.brafb.org for information on how to contribute.
