July 4, 1937 - June 13, 2018 Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Bruce and his wife Anne, a Simmons graduate, met in college. Bruce graduated from MIT in 1959, BS, Industrial Management. His thesis led to Harvard Business Review articles. Bruce then served in the Army Quartermaster Corps, First Lieutenant. He returned to MIT for an MS, Industrial Management. Bruce was Assistant Secretary in Uganda's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, 1962-1964. Returning to the US, he joined Libby, McNeill & Libby, then Abbott Laboratories in Chicago. He became Abbott's Managing Dir. of Operations in South Africa and Japan 1977-1981. In 1982, he moved to San Marino, CA, and joined: Alpha Therapeutic-Sr. VP; Whittaker Corp.-VP; Guardian Products-President/CEO; CliniShare Inc.-President/CEO; NMC Homecare-President; and Pasadena Bioscience Collaborative-President. President/Board service: Pasadena Symphony, USC Pacific Asia Museum, San Marino City Club, MIT Alumni Association, MIT Alumni Fund Board, MIT Sloan School, MIT Club of Los Angeles, Pasadena Angels, USC Davis School of Gerontology, So. California Biomedical Council, Pacific Council on Intl Affairs, Japan America Society, MIT Council for the Arts, MIT Class of 1959 Reunion Committee, MIT Carroll Wilson Circle and Economic Round Table. Bruce's awards: MIT's Harold Lobdell Distinguished Service Award, 1997; MIT's Bronze Beaver (Alumni Association's highest honor), 2000; Pasadena Bio Collaborative Incubator Honor, 2017, and So. California Biomedical Council Honor, 2018. Bruce passed away due to complications of Parkinson's disease. Bruce is survived by his wife Anne, his children Kristin and Jeffrey, Jeffrey's wife Julie, and 3 grandchildren. A reception will be held Tues., June 26, 3pm, Huntington Library, Botanical Center, 1151 Oxford Rd., San Marino.
