1926 ~ 2018
South Jordan, UT - Our sweet mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on April 28, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Pam. In the days prior to her death she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Afton was born July 21, 1926 in Benjamin, Utah to Reuben Ells and Desta Payzant. She was raised in Provo and later in Salt Lake City with 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
On June 25, 1947, she married her sweetheart, Howard Caine Moore in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They purchased their home in 1949 in South Salt Lake and raised their 4 children there.
Throughout her life she was active in the Relief Society and loved to serve anywhere she was needed. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was very proud of her pioneer heritage. We will all remember her for her beautiful singing voice. She loved to sing and was a member of the Allegro Chorus for many years. She was employed at the Newspaper Agency Corporation and always enjoyed her job and her coworkers. Throughout the years Mom and Dad loved to travel with friends and family and spend time at their cabin. They also loved spending time with their grandchildren.
Mom, we love you and will miss you. We will always remember you for your strength, determination and character. You were honest, kind and always did the right thing.
Afton was preceded in death by her husband Howard and is survived by her children; Bruce Moore (Robyn), Pamela Miller, Tina Perkins (Larry), and Roger Moore; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary (6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT). Viewings will be held Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
