Alan grew up along the Hudson River Valley of New York and graduated from New York Military Academy. Wanting to follow in his father's footsteps, he graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. After graduation, he moved to Miami where he served in the US Army Reserves as a medic from 1963-1969 with six months of active duty. All the while, he began working as a pharmacist at Mount Sinai Hospital. It was here where he met Gloria. She was volunteering as a candy striper. They married on December 7, 1963 at Temple Menorah on Miami Beach. In 1970, he was honorably discharged from the armed forces. Alan worked as a pharmacist for over 40 years in South Florida. He worked with Eckerd Drugs and stayed the course even years after they became CVS Pharmacy. His most memorable moments were those of when he worked for CVS on South Beach where he met numerous film stars, including Al Pacino. He was a devoted husband for over 54 years. Upon retiring from pharmacy, he became the sole caretaker of his wife Gloria. When Gloria became a resident of Claridge House, Alan continued to care for her, more diligently than ever. We were told by countless nurses and employees that our father became a part of their family and was considered to be a part of their staff. Dear Dad, You always tried your best to take care of all of us. Most of all, you always stood up for mom, even when others did not understand her ways. Grandpa Jack knew that when he met you, you would be the one who would take care of his daughter Gloria. Then, mom needed extra care, more than any of us could give her. And you were there for mom all day, everyday until you weren't.You left us suddenly. It doesn't make it any easier for us but we pray that you are finally at rest, atpeace. We love you and miss you. Please continue to guide and watch over all of us. Thank you for being our Dad.
