Alvera E. Dunn  (Age 98)  
Of Burke, VA passed away on April 18, 2018 of natural causes. Born in Oregon, she had eight direct ancestors who migrated to Oregon via the Oregon Trail in the mid 1800's. She graduated from the University of Oregon and has an MA from Stanford University. Her lifelong interest in genealogy produced three family genealogies. She taught English at W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA in the 1970's. She was the adviser of an environmental club whose members planted the pine trees on the high school campus. She liked to garden, travel, play golf and work with youth activities. She is predeceased by her husband, Lester and a granddaughter, Joanna. She is survived by her children, Elaine, Roger (Kathy) and Brian (Kathy Frandanisa) Dunn; grandchildren, Cameron (Christine Ortt), Edward (Jennifer), Michael and Marci (Thomas Crowley) Dunn and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the FAIRFAX MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032 on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 12 p.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. www.fmfh.com
