Alma Hefley, age 86, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children Carl, Teresa and William and their spouses, her younger sister Alida, and her grandchildren.  Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Alma moved to Miami in the early 1940s with her mother Modesta and sister Alida. The girls attended Miami Senior High and Alma was a proud majorette. Alma later worked for the , an experience that inspired her to dedicate herself to charitable causes throughout her life. She was blessed to meet the love of her life John Hefley in Miami, and the two planted roots and raised their three beloved children as Miami natives. When John passed away in 2009, Alma moved to Tampa with her daughter and son-in-law. There, Alma enjoyed many wonderful years with family and new friends who loved her deeply and enjoyed her company. Alma was vivacious, compassionate, generous and kind and found joy and comfort in close relationships with family and friends. This world was a better place because she was in it, and she will be missed by those who ever saw her smile or heard her laugh.
