Albert T. Padovano Formerly of Edison Albert T. Padovano passed away on Friday evening at Parker at McCarrick in Somerset, N.J., surrounded by his loving family. Services will begin on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, N.J., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick, N.J. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, N.J. Visiting will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Gleason Funeral Home. Mr. Padovano was born to Daniel and Daisy Padovano in Boonton, N.J., and lived there as a child. He spent many years in Edison. He was a graduate of Boonton High School and attended Missouri School of Mines. He earned his bachelor's from Rutgers University in civil engineering. Mr. Padovano served our country faithfully during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He went through boot camp at Bainbridge Naval Base in Maryland and shipped out to Shoemaker, Calif. He served on the USS Renate, also known as "36", in Pearl Harbor and at the Okinawa Naval Operating Base with Naval Intelligence until discharged in 1946. Mr. Padovano was first employed by Arthur Venneri Company as a construction superintendent until 1963, then with Torcon Company in Westfield, N.J., until 1998. He worked on many schools, hospitals, and commercial properties throughout New Jersey. Mr. Padovano enjoyed witnessing his 26 grandchildren growing and flourishing in their own careers and was a great mentor in all their lives. He was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren and also enjoyed creating artwork with watercolors and handicapping horses. Mr. Padovano was predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Kostka) Padovano, in 1990. He was also predeceased by his son, Thomas, in 2015, and brothers, Joseph and Daniel Padovano. He is survived by his sons, Carl Padovano and his wife, Nancy, Alan Padovano and his wife, Mary Anne Pederson, Richard Padovano and his wife, Donna, and Daniel Padovano and his wife, Sandra. He is also survived by his daughters, Elena Wiechowski and her husband, Edward, Elise Konsulis and her husband, Charles, Mary Jo Clemente and her husband, John, Anita Bartolone and her husband, Thomas, and Michelle Shapiro and her husband, Donald; daughter-in-law, Valerie Shanahan; his brother, Robert Padovano and his wife, Joan, and sister, Joan Ferraiuolo.
