Faleceu
Alice Akins
Alice was born in Seattle on April 8, 1944, and passed away after a long illness on March 5, 2018, in Shoreline.
She was the oldest daughter of Winona and Bill Akins, sister of Barbara Shafer of Seattle, and Arlene Creeden of Middletown, RI. Alice is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Alice was a kind and gentle person, and loved by her family and friends. Her parents were committed to making sure she had a rich and rewarding life. Winona and Bill were two of the founding parents of Northwest Center in Seattle and also started a group home in Ballard, called Libertee World, for adults with intellectual disabilities. Libertee World was a warm and welcoming home for Alice and many special needs adults over many years.
Many thanks to Alice's loving caregivers: Jeanette Buckmeier and Kelly Chase at A Little Piece of Heaven Adult Family Home.
Remembrances may be made in Alice's name to Northwest Center.
