Agnes Munzing Madison centenarian, 'an inspiration to many' Agnes Munzing, 100 and 6 months old, of Madison, N.J., died on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Farmer Funeral Home, at 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland, N.J., on Sunday, March 18, 2018, from 2 to 5 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 10 a.m., at Holy Family Church, located on 35 Orchard Rd., in Florham Park, N.J. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located at 225 Ridgedale Ave., in East Hanover, N.J. Condolences and memories may be shared at farmerfuneral.com. Agnes Munzing was born on Sept. 17, 1917, in the Albert Avenue home of her parents, Anastasia and Joseph Tofil, in Newark, N.J. Agnes had two older sisters, Mary and Helen, and has a younger sister, Louise who is 87 years old. Agnes married William Karowski in 1939, in NYC. They had two sons, William, who died of influenza when he was five years old and Joseph, who is 69. When her husband developed multiple sclerosis, Agnes worked to support her family at the A&P Bakery in Newark for 24 years. In 1971, she married Henry D. Munzing, a widower, World War II army sgt. and a supervisor at the A&P bakery. Agnes was blessed with two grandchildren, Richard and Amy Karowski; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, James, Logan and Delia, and one great-great-grandchild, Joshua. Agnes had a niece, Dawn; a nephew, Craig; a great-niece, Nikki, a great-nephew, Dillon, and a great-great-nephew, Blake. Always an avid reader, Agnes read over 240 hardcover books of fiction and non-fiction in the past 16 months. Agnes was an inspiration to many and was featured and pictured in the inaugural issue of Madison Magazine. Agnes received a proclamation from Robert h. Conley, mayor of Madison, N.J., that was delivered to her in person and read aloud to her by Mayor Conley. Agnes had a cachet made to commemorate her birthday by noted cachet maker John V. Colasanti of JVC Cachets. Agnes received an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis. Agnes was feted by friends and family from Vermont, New York and Florida at her 100th birthday party.
