Donna BurnsOn Tuesday, March 13, 2018, Donna Burns passed away peacefully. Born September 23, 1937 to her late parents Don and Zola Elsenpeter, although a native of Idaho, Donna, having moved to the City as a child, was a San Franciscan through and through. Here she attended Polytechnic High School where she met Ed, her husband of 61 years. Together they began Donna's enduring passion and greatest joy; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her husband Ed Burns; children Jim (Mary), Terry (Chris), Steven, Greg (Rebecca); grandchildren Kevin (Rebecca), Brian (Tabitha), Spencer, Carter; great-grandchildren Savannah and Christian; sister Candy McDonald (deceased).

Family and friends meant everything to Donna. Family holidays, in particular, were treasured by Donna who always went above and beyond to make them special for everyone. No matter if you were an infant or a parent, you could expect an Easter basket tailored with candy of your liking.

Donna also impressed her grandchildren with her tech skills, which ranged from avid Facebook user to formidable Super Mario Bros player.

For over 37 years, she also found time to volunteer at St. Ignatius' Bingo Program, which assisted many students in the form of tuition aid. Donna was honored with an award in recognition of her many years of service to the community and SI. Along with awards and gratitude, she made many friends throughout her time at SI.

She will be dearly missed by her friends and family, but will always remain in our hearts.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, March 21st, at 12:00pm at St. Brendan Church, 29 Rockaway Ave., San Francisco. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
