Alice Decker McAllister WrightAlice Decker McAllister Wright, age 87, a 5th generation Californian on both sides of her family, and San Francisco native, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Valentine's night. Born on October 9, 1930, at San Francisco's Dante Hospital to Mary Baldwin McAllister and Elliott McAllister, Alice graduated from the Katherine Delmar Burke School, Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, Mass., and University of California Berkeley, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1958, Alice married Thomas A. Wright, who she met at his first job in San Francisco. Tom and Alice and their three girls loved summers at Lake Tahoe and their annual trips to Kauai. Another summer time highlight was organizing hiking trips out of Tuolumne Meadows to the various High Sierra Camps in Yosemite, with a core group of San Francisco families. Alice was president of the Florence Crittendon Auxiliary and the Florence Crittendon Board of Directors, and co-chair of the first years of the San Francisco Landscape Garden Show. Since 1996, she was an avid Silver Life Master Duplicate Bridge player. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom Wright, her brother, Alex McAllister (Palm Springs, CA), her daughters, Sally Wright (Brent Bonwell, Santa Fe, NM), Peggy Wright (David Griscom, Santa Fe, NM), and Kathy Wright (Kimmet Holland, Silverton, CO), and three grandchildren, Logan Bonwell, Carly Bonwell, and Chelsea Griscom. Alice was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Elizabeth. At Alice's request, there will be no memorial service.
