Jeanne P. RobertsonMay 15, 1933 - March 3, 2018Services for Jeanne Robertson will be held at 3:00pm tomorrow, April 23rd, at the Rutter Center of the Mission Bay Campus of UCSF. Jeanne was a long time Director of the Board of Overseers of UCSF and a past Chairman. The services, appropriately, will be held in the Jeanne Robertson Auditorium. Jeanne was born in Chicago on May 15, 1933 and died in San Francisco on March 3, 2018. She attended Wellesley College and graduated from Northwestern University. She taught at the Latin School in Chicago before becoming a founder of McDougal-Littell, a successful education publishing company evntually sold to Harcourt. Later she started and ran the One-to-One Learning Center, in the Chicago area, a supplemental teaching service employing seventy teachers.

In 1982 she married Sanford Robertson and moved to San Francisco. When her twin sons had mental health problems, she became an advocate for psychiatry by joining the support group of Langley Porter, UCSF. This led her to the Board of Overseers of UCSF in 1989. From 1997 to 2000, she served as board chair. During her nearly 30 years of loyal service to UCSF, she witnessed transformative change, including the tenues of six chancellors, the creation of the Mission Bay campus, and the opening of UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay. Jeanne service on numerous committees, including the Mission Bay Task Force, and she and her husband were instrumental in founding and shaping the vision for the Mission Bay Campus. In recognition of her service, UCSF awarded her the UCSF Medal in 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Sanford Robertson, her two sons, Arthur and James Sollitt of Belmont, Massachusetts, her sister, Diana Eff of Portland, Oregon, her husband's three daughters, Dr. Laura Robertson of San Francisco, California, Brett Robertson of Mill Valley, California, LeeAnn Rosol of Boulder, Colorado, three nephews and six grandchildren.
