Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on February 20th, 2018 with his family by his side. John was born on July 31st, 1941 to Norris and Betty Deakin in Bingham, UT.
He was proud of his service in the United States Navy and serving on the USS Kittyhawk. John was a longtime member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and motorcycling. John was lucky on the slots and always loved a good buffet.
Survived by his wife Sylvia De Smet Deakin, children Jane Deakin Nielsen, William John (Alessandra Bianchini) Deakin, Charlie Huff; grandchildren Isaac (Kimmi) Nielsen, Natalie (Johnny) Malele, Katie (Jordan) Galloway, Wyatt Nielsen and their father Brad Nielsen, Brynlee Huff; and sister Betty Andersen. Preceded in death by parents.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, February 26th from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, with a short memorial service to begin at 1:00 PM. at The Chateau at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) Sandy. Online condolences may be offered at www.larkincares.com
