Magna, UT-Donald Keith Goates, 90, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018.
He was born September 25, 1927, in Springville, Utah to Abram L. and Alta America Hart Goates. He married Deloris Ruth Gadd on February 3, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died on May 29, 1992 after 43 years of marriage. He married Kathryn Rice on July 6, 1993 and enjoyed their almost 25 years together. He was a member of the LDS Church and held many callings to include the Bishopric and Ward Clerk for several years. He retired from Kennecott after 36 years, and then worked for Zions Bank. Dad was a master candy maker and loved to share his candy with everyone. He was also an excellent wood worker and enjoyed camping, boating and waterskiing trips to Lake Powell.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children, Craig Goates, Blair (Debby) Goates, Garth (Kim) Goates, Sandee (Rod) Morrison, Kent (Tammie) Goates; 10 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; as well as Kathryn's children, Margene (Sal), Bill (Cindy), Bonnie (John), David (Debby); and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Deloris and grandson, Cory Douglas Goates.
Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, February 24, 2018, Spencer 4th Ward, 8181 W. 3320 S. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:45 am at the Church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park will be Monday, February 26, 2018 at 1 pm. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
