Alba M. Brunetto Educator and professional singer, harpist, 96 Alba M. Brunetto, 96, of Ocean Grove, N.J., died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, N.J. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, Feb. 23 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Ave., Ocean Grove. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Ave., Ocean Grove. Interment will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, N.J. Mrs. Brunetto was a teacher, last working for the Essex County Board of Education at the Essex County Vocational School. Also she taught at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament. She received her teacher's certificate from St. Elizabeth College in 1971. Music was her life. She was a professional level singer, having sung at the 1964 World's Fair and at Carnegie Hall. She played the harp, organ and piano, and was a member of the Hall of Fame of the Bloomfield Federation of Music. Alba belonged to many choir groups and she was the resident harpist for many years at the Van Tassel Funeral Home, Bloomfield. Born in Belleville, N.J., she summered in Ocean Grove for over 50 years before retiring to her home on Stockton Avenue 12 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Brunetto, in 1985. She was a devoted mother to her son, David A. Brunetto. Also surviving are her brother and his wife, Elmo and Ella Pascale; sister-in-law, Rose Brunetto; nieces, Martha Weston and her husband, Richard, and Phyllis Crowell; nephew, Nick Brunetto and his wife, Donna; cousin, Lois Corbo; friends, Mary Martin, Al and Joyce Dawson, Nancy Paugh, Rose and Sal Geraci, Fran McLaughlin, and many other friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, 54 Pitman Ave., Ocean Grove, would be appreciated.
