Donald J. Arensdorf

Faleceu

June 21, 1930 - February 15, 2018 The only son of Reinhardt & Lucille Arensdorf, Don grew up in Chicago and was drafted to the Marines during the Korean War. After serving at Camp Pendleton, he met the beautiful Ada Troncoso while he was working at the Bank of America in Los Angeles. Don and Ada were married in 1958 at Saint Martha's Catholic Church. Together, Don and Ada raised 6 children, doting on their family and sacrificing much for their well-being. Don was a talented musician, playing the guitar and singing for many years at Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in LA (and later in the "5th Dementia" choir). A well-read and intellectual man, he was a lifelong Democrat and a huge Lakers fan. A gentleman, he exemplified kindness, humility, and compassion for those less fortunate. In the last decade of his life, Don unfortunately suffered from Alzheimer's disease; yet, through it all, he remained the sweet, loving man his family adored. Don is survived by his wife, Ada, their 6 children (Luz Maria Dempsey, John Arensdorf, Teresa Barth, James Arensdorf, Gabriela Mafi & Elena Vazquez), 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and sister, Judy. His life will be celebrated at a funeral mass at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Long Beach on Saturday, March 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Donations may be made to OPICA in his name at www.opica.org.
