Aaron Herman

Faleceu

January 14, 1924 - February 5, 2018 Aaron was the son of Russian immigrants who came to America through Ellis Island, settling in New York and Philadelphia. His parents, Elizabeth Harris and Saul Herman, worked in the garment industry as a skilled seamstress and cutter. As a child, Aaron enjoyed summer trips to Rockaway Beach, and to the Catskill Mountains, joined by his brother, Sidney, and his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. During World War II, Aaron was enlisted as an Officer, working in medical administration buildings and warehouses within the US. After the war, he moved to California and graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked in the aerospace industry for Rocketdyne during the time of the first manned flight to the moon. Aaron was husband to Renee Davis, who passed away in 2009. During 58 years of marriage, Aaron and Renee enjoyed world and domestic travel, going to every continent - including Antarctica - on many cruises. They were interested in learning about all cultures, with open minds. They also enjoyed yearly trips to the casino in Las Vegas, where Aaron was sharp at blackjack. Aaron also enjoyed drinking fresh squeezed juice from his backyard orange tree, and admiring the beautiful roses in his garden. Aaron is survived by Robert (Marjorie) and Marla. He was grandfather to Bryce, Jeremy, and Rosalie; and great-grandfather to Alice and Jeremiah. He is also survived by his nieces Robin Herman and Summer Pramer, and his dear cousins Flora Abramowitz and Albert Chasen. He was always close to his extended family, both in Los Angeles, and in New York / Philadelphia. May we cherish his memory. Memorial services will be held at Mt. Sinai Chapel, Hollywood Hills, CA, on February 23 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Aaron Herman may be made to "Special Olympics."
