Adrian Alfonso Villaraos

Faleceu

Villaraos, Adrian Alfonso, passed away on Feb. 12, 2018 surrounded by family. Born in Havana, Cuba on August 2, 1950, he lived in Mexico, Puerto Rico and Missouri before settling in Hialeah (often quipping, "extra Hialeah non est vita"). He graduated from Henry H. Filer Junior High School, Miami Springs Senior High School and Miami-Dade Community College, where he met the love of his life, Diana, while playing a Cuban tumbadora in a campus corridor. A gifted painter, sketch artist and sculptor, he also completed coursework at Florida International University toward a degree in fine arts. By trade, Adrian was a master craftsman, cabinetmaker and shipwright, working up and down the Miami River, including at Merrill-Stevens and Allied Marine shipyards. The quintessential lifelong learner, Adrian earned a black belt in judo and a third Dan black belt in Shotokan karate, spoke several languages and was a dedicated student of world religions and mysticism. Adrian's thirst for knowledge was surpassed only by his passion for teaching, and he culminated his career running the School of Architecture model shops at both Florida International University and the University of Miami. He was a storyteller, scoutmaster, outdoorsman, practical joker, and lover of all things pork, but above all else, a boundlessly loving husband, father and grandfather to his wife, son, daughter and seven grandsons. In addition to his wife Diana of 43 years, he is survived by his son Adrian de Jesus Villaraos (Marika Lynch), daughter Ana Bar-chen and grandsons David, Daniel, Jonathan, Benjamin, Neale, Ian and Paul. A viewing will be held Thursday, February 15th from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at Funeraria Memorial Plan San Jose, 250 E. 4th Avenue, Hialeah, FL 33010.
