Alvin W. (A.W.) Wagener Jr. was born November 8, 1934 in Gillett, TX and passed away Feb. 2, 2018.
He was married to Gayle Zimmermann on August 8, 1957 in Fort Hood, TX. They were fortunate to celebrate their 60th anniversary together on 8/08/17. A.W. first 20 years of his career he was employed at General Provisions and Rich Plan of Houston and the next 23 years of his career he was employed and retired with Occidental Chemical Plant.
A.W. served in the U.S. army in the 4th Armored Infantry, ranked Staff Sergeant and was honorable discharged on April 30th, 1963. He was a member of the Woodman of the World and Hermann Sons.
A.W. was a wonderful loving husband and provider to his family throughout his life. He was very proud of his son Craig's accomplishments and supported his "Aggie" pride. He loved his daughter-in-law dearly and all his extended friends and family. A.W. was a lover of all creatures and truly appreciated nature.
A.W. is survived by his loving wife Gayle and son Craig and Melissa Wagener. Nieces and Nephews, Ruthie Wagener, Jr. and Darlene Wagener, Nathan May, Camille and Stephanie Tueni, Johnny and Susan Short and their extended families. Belle Zimmermann his sister-in-law and Maxine Mitchell his care giver of the last 3 years, whom he loved.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Southpark Funeral Home 1310 N. Main St. Pearland, TX 77581. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 PM. Graveside service will be held at Nixon Cemetery 1396 CR 174 Nixon, TX 78140, 1:30 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018.
