D. Channez Schmidt Former longtime Linden resident and floor nurse D. Channez Schmidt, 87, formerly of Linden, N.J., recently of Mays Landing, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. Entombment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, N.J. A memorial service will be held in Spring of 2018 at St. Gertrude's. Details will follow. Services will be announced at a later date. Check the funeral home website for updates. Channez was born in London, England, and immigrated to America, working as a floor nurse at Philadelphia Presbyterian Hospital. She married John C. Schmidt of Elizabeth, N.J., in 1956. They moved to Linden, where they resided until John's death in 2014. Channez then moved to Mays Landing to live close to her son. Channez is survived by her sons, Alan and his wife, Linda, David and his wife, Mery, and Peter and his husband, Michael, and her daughter, Jean Sergi and her husband, Sam. She is also survived by Ida Minchew, her sister-in-law, as well as grandchildren, Channez Rogers, Alyssa Schmidt, and Michael Sergi, and great-grandchildren.
