Collette Teresa Collins March 5, 1934-January 17, 2018Collette Teresa Collins passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Born on March 5, 1934, Collette grew up in Austin, MN. She was the first in her family to go to college and attended Mankato State College, where she got her Bachelor's in Science and her Teaching Credential. Collette had an adventurous spirit and moved several places to teach, including Elko, Nevada and Fairbanks, Alaska where she met her husband, David. After she was married she taught in Trenton, New Jersey.

After living in England while Dave was in graduate school, they returned to the United States, and had their first daughter, Nicole in 1965. Eventually they moved to California where they had 3 more daughters, Michele, Laurie and Suzanne.

Collette was a loyal and loving mother, grandmother and a dedicated teacher. She wanted nothing more than for her children to go to college, enjoy their professions and to travel and see the world, as she had done. She never ceased to be a teacher, whether it was working as a classroom aide in the local middle school or reading stories with her grandchildren. She had a natural ability to see her children's and grandchildren's unique talents and curiosities and nurture them.

She was an avid reader and most enjoyed being with family and friends, spending time at the beach, and sharing a good meal with others. She had an infectious smile, a generous heart, caring spirit, and a stubborn streak with sheer determination that never slowed her down. She was quick to make a joke in moments of worry, and would easily laugh or cry with others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her four daughters, Nicole, Michele, Laurie and Suzanne and her five grandchildren, Angelina, Julia, Joshua, Iris, and Julian. She is preceded by her parents, Elizabeth and Henry Coffman, her husband, David, and six siblings, Gene, Paul, Camila, Larry, Dwight, and Billy.

Visitation begins at 4pm followed by a Vigil at 5pm on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 300 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo, CA.
