Alan Bernard Bates (Jafar)  
Born on December 10, 1954, and died on January 1, 2018, at the Washington Home & Community Hospices. He was 63. He was a 1973 graduate of Wilson High School (Washington, DC). Beloved son of the late Bee Edward and Thelma Bates, he is predeceased by three brothers, Howard, Thomas and Marshall. Survived by two sisters, Carolyn Silas of Oklahoma and Margaret Williams, of Maryland; a brother Robert Bates, of Washington, DC; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. A memorial gathering of family and friends is scheduled for March 10, 2018.
