Christine Gilligan Dwyer Enjoyed traveling and scuba diving around the world with her husband Christine Gilligan Dwyer succumbed to brain cancer after a valiant fight, beginning in April of 2015 and ending on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Abbey, Delbarton, Morristown, N.J., on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Rood Cemetery. Hours of visitation at the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown, are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Christine graduated from The Grier School of Pennsylvania in 1964, the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1968, and continued through several post-grad courses. Being active in the Tea Party movement, politics, and teaching primary school were her avocations. Mixed with Edward's successful career, politics and teaching, Christine and Edward found time to travel extensively, pursuing their great love of SCUBA around the world, diving in every sea except the Arctic. She often said, "It has been a heck of a ride." Christine is survived by her husband, Edward Angus Dwyer of Morris Township, N.J.; four sisters, Kathleen Haller (Lee), Eileen Mullray, Jean Cockayne (William), and Delia Gilligan Goetz (Peter); and her dear brother, James. She is also survived by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Elena Dwyer, and John and Gail Dwyer; 11 nieces and nephews, and 18 great-nieces and -nephews, whom she loved dearly. Christine was predeceased by her parents, James Patrick and Jean Gilligan; her sister, Sara Ruth Bryson, and brother-in-law, T. Daniel Mullray.
