On the morning of December 1st, Alva Jane Broughton Schiller joined her beloved JD to watch over their family from afar. Born on June 26, 1937 in Kirbyville, Texas to Leon and Edna Jewett Broughton who both preceded her in death. Janie lived a happy and fulfilling life. She married her high school sweetheart on the 21st of December 1956 and raised three children. She enjoyed traveling with family, hosting people at the beach house, star gazing, surfing the internet, following the royal family, Aggie football, and drinking cold Dr. Pepper from a glass bottle. Janie loved spending time with her three children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Janie is loved by her abundant family including nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is survived by her son, John Daniel Schiller Jr, and wife Kristi; son Mark Stephen Schiller; daughter Karen Schiller Shepherd and husband Troy; Her sisters, Diane Broughton Lundell, Joan Broughton Vaccaro and husband James, and her brother William Broughton and wife Maureen. She is also survived by her grandchildren: John Daniel Schiller III and wife Veronica, Hailey Schiller and Russell Kelly, Nicole Shepherd Betz and husband Christian, Susan Lauderdale and husband Brian, Brittian Schiller, Sinclair Schiller and great grandchildren, Liddie Schiller, Weston Kelley, Victoria Schiller, and John Daniel Schiller IV. Our hearts ache knowing we will never make another memory with her on Earth.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven thirty in the evening on Monday, the 4th of December, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at half-past twelve o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 5th of December at the Chapel at Memorial Oaks Funeral home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
Honored to serve as pallbearers during the services are Daniel Schiller, Troy Shepherd, Don Broughton, James Broughton, Russell Kelley, and Christian Betz. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Brittian Schiller, William Broughton, James Vaccaro, Robert Farr and Brian Lauderdale.
The entombment is to follow at the Texas Liberty Mausoleum. Immediately following, all are invited to a reception in remembrance of Janie at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Jane Schiller's name may be directed to the Salvation Army - Houston Area Command, 1500 Austin St., Houston, TX, 77002.
