Albert Bertalmio, of Elmhurst, passed away one day short of his 100th birthday. He remembered the Armistice celebration, held in his mother's arms. Albert was the beloved husband of the late Elsie; loving father of Albert John and Lynne (William Ersland) Bertalmio; proud grandfather of Michael (Julie) Shaw and great-grandfather of Benjamin and Elio; cherished son of the late Joseph and the late Helen Bertalmio; dear brother of Henry, Ambrose, and Charles. Albert received his A.A. degree from Wright Junior College and graduated with a degree in accounting from Central YMCA College in Chicago. He played clarinet in the National Guard band before being deployed in the European Theater of WWII as a Staff Sergeant, where he served as chief accountant in the 127th Army Finance Section. He was Vice President for Store Operations of Stineway Ford Hopkins Rexall Drug. He then joined the Reflector Hardware Company as Comptroller and later became Vice President for Finance and a member of the Board of Directors. He owned Louise Gift House in Skokie. He was instrumental in the early establishment of the Broadway Bank of Chicago. He was intelligent, honest, hard-working, and generous. Visitation Sunday, 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 3:00 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst.
