Albert Edward Hector Physical education teacher and Hall of Fame coach Mr. Albert (Al) Edward Hector, 82, of New Providence, N.J., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, in Toms River, N.J., with his loving family by his side. Relatives and friend are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Al was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and was the son of Louis James Hector and Doris Elizabeth Hector (nee Blundell). Al was a member of the United State Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. Al moved to New Providence in the early 1970s. He was a physical education teacher and wrestling coach at Columbia High School until 1997, and was fondly call "Coach" by many of his players and students. After his career at Columbia, he was a wrestling coach at Summit High School for a number of years. Al enjoyed spending time with his family, riding bikes, swimming laps at the pool, and walking his dogs. He was in the New Jersey Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Columbia High School Wrestling Hall of Fame. Al is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet, and his adoring children, Caren (Brian) Pozniak, Cathy Kearns, Louis James Hector IV and Patricia (Greg) Viscomi. He was the cherished Grandpa of Brendan, Joseph, Erin, PJ, Thomas, Louis, Veronica, Kayla, Sophia, Brynn, Frankie and Cassie. He is predeceased by his brother, Louis James Hector III, and his sister, Doris Winkler.
