Afton Maycock Nickerson, 80, died surrounded by her family on Thurs., Nov. 16th, 2017, from ovarian cancer complications. A native of Springville, UT, Afton was born on April 26th, 1937 to Howard Condie and Mary Verl Simmons Maycock. She graduated from Springville High School and the University of Utah. She married Charles Webb Nickerson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1961. They raised their family in Summit, NJ, a commuter suburb of New York City and held a career as an executive administrator in the banking and law industries specializing in trusts and estates. An accomplished pianist and organist, Afton taught music lessons to countless students and served as an organist for various LDS congregations for 65 years.
A viewing followed by a funeral service will be held on Sat., Nov. 25, 2017 at 10:00 AM, 55 North Main Street, Springville, UT. Interment will be at the Historic Springville City Cemetery.
Afton is survived by her spouse of 56 years, Charles W. Nickerson, their three children: Julie, Jill and Charlie (Tamara Jill Dickson, spouse); and their four grandchildren.
