Alvin S. Eglow Service is tomorrow for Union resident, longtime CPA Alvin S. Eglow, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, at Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael, 60 Temple Dr., Springfield, N.J. Interment will take place at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, N.J. Born in Newark, N.J., Mr. Eglow lived in Union, N.J., since 1960. He was a graduate of Rutgers University School of Business in Newark, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. He had been a self-employed CPA, practicing in Union since 1952. Mr. Eglow had also served in the N.J. National Guard from 1951 to 1961. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, both the N.J. and N.Y. Society of CPAs, the Azure Masada Lodge No. 22 F.&A.M., Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield, and its Men's Club. Mr. Eglow is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Eglow (nee Pearlmutter); a daughter, Shelley (Jeffrey) Cowen of Lewis Center, Ohio; two sons, Michael (Dianne) Eglow of Millburn, N.J.; and Jeffrey (Christine) Eglow of Boca Raton, Fla.. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Neil Bernstein of Denver; Ross (Teri) Bernstein of Golden, Colo., and Zonni Bernstein of Denver; a sister, Elaine Halper of Livingston, N.J.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Arrangements were by Ross' Shalom Chapels, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, N.J. 07081.
