Alfred Bynum ("Boots") Hegar, 91, of Hockley, Texas, passed away Monday October 2, 2017. He was born at the family homestead on April 9, 1926, in Hockley, Texas, to Tina and August Hegar. AB proudly served as a seaman first class on the USS Sperry in World War II. On November 6, 1947, he married Faye Evelyn Sanford and they were married for 55 years. Much of his life was dedicated to building Hegar Brothers into a successful business, and throughout his life, he had an amazing memory and command for numbers. He spent many hours working to ensure that his children and grandchildren had the opportunity to get a college degree. When he was not at the family farm, he had a passion for spending time with the guys either hunting or fishing, which was always more enjoyable with a cold beer or two. In retirement, he spent countless hours playing dominos with his friends for a game of moon or 42. AB was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife,Faye Hegar; and his older brothers August Hegar; Lawrence Hegar; and Frank Hegar. AB is survived by his children, Glenn Hegar, Sr.; Ronda Hegar; Judy Ripple and husband Robert; Kathy Friedel and husband Gary; and grandchildren, Glenn Hegar, Jr. and wife Dara; Gordon Hegar; Darren Friedel and wife Nicole; Greg Friedel and wife Courtney; Jennifer Ladner and husband Aubrey; and Ryan Ripple and wife Melissa. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Claire Hegar, Julia Hegar, Jonah Hegar, Katie Friedel, Dean Friedel, Emma Friedel, Aiden Friedel, Camden Ladner, and Asher Ripple. The family will host friends for a visitation from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, the 5th of October, at Klein's Funeral Home, 1400 W Main St., Tomball, TX, 77375. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10am on Friday, the 6th of October, at Klein's Funeral home, 1400 W Main St., Tomball, TX, 77375. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in AB's memory may be directed to Wounded Warriors Project. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Hegar, Glenn Hegar Jr., Gordon Hegar, Darren Friedel, Greg Friedel, and Ryan Ripple.
