Alvina M. Hirdes Graveside service Friday Alvina M. Hirdes, 98, of Maplewood, N.J., passed away on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Winchester Gardens. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at 10 a.m., at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, N.J. She lived in New Jersey in Irvington, Union, Springfield, and Beach Haven, and in North Smithfield, R.I. She was a member of Connecticut Farms Church's Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, dressmaking, sewing and knitting, traveling and engaging with people. Predeceased by her husband, Max, and her granddaughter, Bambie Lee (Plante) Brown, Alvina is survived by her daughter, Margarete (Margie Hirdes) Noesner; granddaughter, Maxie Lee Kroen; and three great-granddaughters, Julia, Vivian and Emily.
